Hi everyone. Im not new to the forum but this will be my first thread in this section. I've come to terms that my 95 is not coming back to life. So I'm upgrading. I really like th '04 to '07. I'm thinking on the XLT, FX4, or lariat. The truck will be a supercab and have the center counsole. It will also have the 5.4 triton. I'm just wondering if you could give me the ups and downs to this generation. Different mods, things that usually go bad. How dificult it is to work on. I'm a fairly good mechanic so that shouldn't be a problem, and some pics. I would like to see what you all have done to your trucks. Thanks for all your input.

 

I would have to say, Try to get an 06-08 FX4. Anything with the 5.4 is good. I have an 08 XLT supercab with a 4.6. I get plenty of compliments, but I wish it had a little more power. Good luck on your search. Here is a few pics of mine.

As for 06-08, all the kinks and problems are worked out.

Spark plug issues are the main draw back on 04 - 06 as I read.
ck the threads on this forum. but once the earlier models get the one piece plugs there good to go.
