Exclamation Ticking and stalling

HI EVERYONE, I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME OUT HERE. I BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2006 F150 5.4 102K MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND SOMETIMES WHEN I START IT, IT WILL SAY CHECK GAUGES AND GOES AWAY PRETTY QUICK, I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND IT SAYS ITS A MISFIRE BUT IS NOT VERY SPECIFIC. I BELIEVE IT HAS BEEN A YEAR THAT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. ONE, IT MAKES A TICKING SOUND WHICH I DON'T REALLY MIND BUT I DO WANT TO FIX IT. TWO, IT STALLS ON ACCELERATION IT'S WORSE WHEN GOING ON AN INCLINE, I HAVE NOTICED IT DOES IT MORE BETWEEN 40MPH-70MPH. IF I STEP ON THE GAS TO SPEED UP AND PASS A CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL BEGIN TO FLASH. WHEN IT STALLS I HAVE TO LET GO OFF THE GAS IF I KEEP MY FOOT ON THE GAS IT WILL JUST KEEP STALLING TILL I LET GO IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT'S DIFFERENT THINGS FUEL PUMP, FUEL FILTER, SPARK PLUGS, INJECTOR, I HAVE FIXED ALL AND NOW I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE THE CAM PHASERS. COULD THAT MAYBE BE THE PROBLEM? HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE?

A flashing cel indicates a mis-fire. You stated that you have "fixed" the spark plugs. When were they replaced? Also, what brand did you use? Most people around here like to stick with motorcraft. Have the cops been changed? Or at least the boots and springs? The ticking is probably your cam phasers. Does it go away after it warms up?

Looks like your shift key is stuck too... All caps is considered shouting.

I had a different mechanic take a look at my truck today. He replaced spark plug #3 and coil. The spark plug seemed old, like it had not been replaced and so I thought they were all "replaced in January this year" I drove it all day today and it looks like that may have been it. It's running nice and smooth no stall so far, I hope it stays that way. I didn't fix the ticking sound.

On my 2007 5.4 I had a very similar problem. Started out by replacing the fuel filter....nope. Next I did the coils.....nope. Changed out all 8 plugs (5 broke) and bingo problem solved!

Why would you replace COP’s before plugs ??
