Default Throaty?!?

sounds like exhaust leak but please explain mods and describe what happens and when. Throaty describes loud exhaust in my mind.

The truck is stock. No modifications whatsoever. "Throaty"....how can I explain it? It's sort of like a tiny hole in the muffler sound, but it's a quiet sound....more like a rough hum...only happens when accelerating. I'll check the air filter to be sure it's properly seated, although this sound did not exist even after I changed the filter. It came on more recently. I'm thinking it could be something to do with the exhaust system, although nothing has been done to it before. It's still stock.

To better describe the sound, it's like wind blowing strong but in a low moaning tone. Increases and decreases with engine rpm, just like wind does when increasing and decreasing. Any ideas?

That 100% sounds like an intake air filter seal. Have you checked that yet? It's been mentioned a couple times but I see no satisfaction around it. It's a quick and easy thing to check. I had to replace mine and that moan went away.

Yes, I've checked the intake air filter, and it's clean. Hardly any dust on it at all, and it's sitting snugly.

Is the foam seal around the box good?

Foam seal around the box is good and pliable, but did notice that the long horizontal strip on the bottom has become a bit "wavy" near the ends. It has "slipped" a tiny bit...not completely mind you, just on a couple of places of its length. The whole thing is still glued to the box. That might make a difference. I'll replace it when I get a chance and see if it does away with the sound.

I'll pay you $50 in monopoly game money if you help all these fellers out and post a vid trying to capture the sound

I get something like this when im climbing a hill at around 2000 rpms. Only lasts a couple of seconds then quiet again. Id call it more of a drone. Coming from the exhaust, not tires.

I have a k&n intake and magnaflow siso exhaust on a 5.4 as well.
