I'm finding that as long as any door is open, the third brake light stays on. This is a great way to drain the battery- ask me how I know.
Is there any way to have it turn off after a certain amount of time? '08 XLT Supercrew

Third brake light or cargo lights? If cargo, they come on with the dome light and can be turned off with the dial next to the headlight switch. They also go off after a few mins with way.

 

It’s the light on the top back of the cab, I was under the impression it was a third brake light. Is that wrong? Ultimately though, it stays on as long as a door is open. So if one of the kids doesn’t close the door all the way (and it’s actually kind of hard to tell on the truck) that light will stay on the whole time.

 

The third brake light is a red high mount brake like that comes on when you hit the brakes. On either side are the white cargo lights. They come on with the dome light when you open the door or turn on the dome light. This is a normal feature. The light will turn itself off after about ten mins.

 

Thanks. I wonder if I have an electrical issue, as it won’t turn off as long as a door is open. But now that I know it’s supposed to, I’ll test it out.
