I got my truck inspected at a local Monroe the other day (04 fx4 4x4 94k miles) and the manager recomended replacing the front and rear shocks and struts. He quoted me between 1500-2000$ for the complete set that they sell. I dont know much about the shocks and struts but that seems quite expensive to me. Can't I get nice aftermarket ones or ones that will lift my truck up for the same price? Also Im a little confused about what exactly I need to replace as far as shocks and struts.

 

I've always heard good things about the Bilstein shocks. Thinking about getting them for my truck one of these days when I have money...lol.

 

That's a rip off... I just bought all 4 bilstein 5100's for $399 shipped. They are guaranteed for life and ride great! I haven't installed the fronts yet, but I will be putting them in come Christmas time when I get more time... So far the rears are great... They also will level out your ride by up to 2 inches.
