If you were mechanically inclined I'd say get a used 5.4 now and rebuild it. Have it on the sidelines for a swap down the road. A 6.2 would be sweet, but will likely be a costly headache to drop in if someone else is doing the work.

With the Internet these days ignorance is a poor excuse to not know something. Motor work is not hard, it is just costly and time consuming to undertake for a lot of us.

Do your homework on the 6.2 and see how fitment, wiring, tranny, driveshafts, and other miscellaneous things will stack up for you. A donor raptor would be key for this swap and will probably save massive amounts of time and money. We're all rooting for you to get the 6.2 because it would be sick!!! Plus you could help us all by taking some of the guess work out of an endeavor such as this.
I'm keeping my truck until it disintegrates, so I will be in your shoes one day. I only hope a 6.2 will be cheaper by then, and the information I need for the swap will be abundant on this site.

I will be needing to replace mine in a couple of years and am hoping to go with the 6.2 when the time comes. I just hope the price does go down or I may have to just stick with a 5.4, either way, if you have the money you can get the same amount of HP & Torque as the 6.2 and it might be a little cheaper. Just something to think about.
