Hi,
Tires on my "new" 2006 that I just got are pretty worn. I want to test wider size on stock wheels, therefore plan on getting used tires. There is a set of 315/70/17 which looks good and good price but looks like they might be too old. Do you think these cracks are ok to drive?

What's the date on the sidewall ?

You can't really tell by visual, but if they are over 7 years old based on the date stamp molded into the sidewall the big chain tire shops around where I live won't even mount them for you.
so if you have any pictures of the sidewall or look in person check out that date. Or ask the seller.
It's a 4 digit number 2 of the digits identify the year and the other two identify which week in that year they were made.

I have driven on tires much older than 7 years, but if you can't get a shop to mount them then your kind of hosed.

I would not buy them but, I had a set of nittos that did that and they were fine. Sidewalls we're good though.
