Default Terra Grappler VS Trail Grappler

Went to a local tire shop and was looking at terra grapplers and trail grapplers...the guy informed me that the trail grapplers were strictly a mud tire and the terra grapplers were the all terrains, which would be compared to my BFG-All terrains i currently have on. Im planning on buying tire/rim combo in the spring and ive narrowed it down to 295 on 18's or 285 on 18s. With either terra grapplers or trail grapplers. I love the look of the trail grapplers over the terra, however i dont need a mud tire. I do mostly highway/city driving as well as dirt roads.

So are the trail grapplers compared to a BFG- All terrain or would that be the terra grapplers? Im just not sure the guy knew what he was talking about. I will not be using them in the winter as ill throw on my BFG-all terrains with my stockers for winter driving. I have searched this but didnt really find the answer i was looking for.

The terras are a good tire, I'm planning on stepping down from a fierce attitude MT. And yes they would be all terrains, like your BFG.

But if you don't like the look of the terras, go with the trails or you will be second guessing your decision. The terras will last longer, but won't look near as good. I originally went with 33s, but then upgraded to 34.5s or so. I would go with the 295/70/18 if you have 3.73 rear end and don't do an enormous amount of towing.

If all you do is highway, don't waste money on the trails....yes they are more aggressive looking, but why spend 1k+ to get 20k miles out of them.

I have Trail Grappler MT's - and they are a bit much for 95% of my city driving... when I'm on the highway - man they're loud... but at least people hear me coming... if I had to point out one negative thing about MT's - you can get stuck in sand! i learned this the hard way.

cheers,

Love my trail grapplers, had them on several vehicles. Good looking, not real loud and great mileage out of a mud tire, got 50000 on my first set and my brother got 55000 on his first set.

if you take care of MT you can get good mileage. I just took of a set of KM2's that had 50k on them with about 10k left in tread. All about rotations...

haha to clarify i wasnt sure if he knew what he was talking about because he kept pointing to different brand tire beside the trail grapplers and showing me the tread on them and i had to keep informing him it was the one next to it that were the trail grapplers lol...

So the Trail Grapplers are a M/T tire then you cannot get them in A/T? I live in a small city so my commutes are not bad...furthest i normally drive is to my gfs which is 35 mins away on the highway, everything else is 10 mins down the highway. i drive to Duluth, Minnesota about 3-4hrs away 4 times a year. On average i probably tow like 5 times a year and then i haul my atv in my box which is only 400lbs. These tires would only be used in the summer with summer rims so snow wouldnt be an issue.
