Default Tailgate gap cover

I was wondering if anyone has made their own gap cover for the tailgate. I use my truck for work, so I am always cleaning chunks of mortar, gravel, and other debris out of that gap.
I know they sell some, but they are around $30, and really not worth that much.
I thought about just sliding a piece of rubber up under my bedliner a little ways, and the same on the tailgate, and seeing if it will stay in place. That's kind of the other thing I need, is for it to stay put. My tailgate gets opened/closed a minimum of twice a day.

This is what they sell.

I want one for 2 reasons. 1- keep debris out when sweeping out the bed and 2- minimize air flow to keep my tonneau from flapping all over.

You need a hard cover tri-fold to prevent that; the air flow coming over the cab is hitting the cover and making it flop.

And on topic, that gap shield looks to be quite handy for easy cleaning of the bed.
