Hey all,

Getting some clunking in my front suspension when going over some bumps, wanting to replace it all at once so i can tell what is failing the fastest. Planning on doing all MOOG problem solver replacements.

So far i have:

2 upper control arms
2 ball joints
2 tie rod ends
2 sway bar links

anything else i should change while im at it?

Coil springs good ?? sometimes they crack .. you doing inner tie rod ends also ?

 

I have a set of rancho quicklift adjustables i put on about 2 years ago so they should be all good.

wasnt planning on inner tie rod, didnt think those failed as often as outer tie rod ball joint?

 

You did not mention the mileage so, was just throwing that out there...If I were doing all that to my truck I would do the inners too.

 

Might want to check and search the Rancho Quicklifts and them making loud noises.
I have read there a lot of people that get a cluncking sound when going over bumps due to the change in geometry from the Quicklifts.
Your other components may be okay and it could just be the suspension rebound maxing out over bumps.

well i guess i will know if they are bad if i replace everything and that makes noise? I always have known leveling kits will change your geometry. Just could never afford a nice kit like Icon or something. any recommendations for better components made for leveling kits without breaking the bank?

 

I'm not saying the Quicklifts have gone bad, I'm saying, from everything I've read, that the clunck is an inherent issue with those even brand new.
Search the forum and you will read people having new trucks with new Quicklifts making this sound when you hit a bump or the wheel drops down a pot hole or the like.
Its the limited down travel due to the compression that raises the vehicle.
I hear they ride great compared to stock overall it just the big bumps that cause the issue.

I don't have a lift of any type so I can't recommend one over the other. I have heard the spacer type level kits (metal puck) are not as bad an issue in regards to the Quicklift.

thanks, ill take a look. I had the metal pucks before and removed them. the quicklifts do ride great, i have them set all the way to soft and who knows, the noise i could be hearing might be from them but ive randomly replaced some components on one side but not the other, so it would be nice to have a single date and mileage that all the components were replaced on.
