I painted my fender flares to make them black again. My wiper cowl I don't think got painted, but it might've when I had to replace my windshield washer nozzles. I did the full timing job myself in the driveway on my 5.4. Lemme tell ya, that was an undertaking. When I pulled one phaser the camshaft slipped, so I had to COMPLETELY retime the engine. Haha. Learned so much jumping into projects on that truck.

This is my build thread for my '07

I like how in depth you went with describing your build! I noticed you changed your timing chain tensioner also, did you have a start up clanking noise on cold starts? I do and I know it's oil pressure related, so I'm thinking it's my timing chain tensioner, I'm not 100% though.

But I wouldn't lift the body more than 2"(it will look weird, and u will notice as soon as u lift ur truck) I got a Fabtech cuz of their track record. 6" lift is perfect, and that's what u need for a 2wd(trust me I have the same truck). U will, however, need some larger blocks for the rear, or new leafs or new shackles. BTW, u will want 35's sooner rather than later after u install the lift lol

I appreciate and value your response. Thank you! I think I'm going to try and save for a 6" lift. I figure I'll want 35's, but I definitely won't be able to afford them right when I lift it haha. Do you think 35's on 18's would look okay? I do like a little more tire than I do rim.
So I'll need to get blocks, they won't come with the lift? Or is that just what you recommend?

I'm a bit obsessive so I take pictures of everything. Haha. I'm not sure exactly what was out, but it's better to go ahead and replace everything with OEM while you're in there. That way you can pretty much guarantee you never have to go back in. When/if you do it, DO NOT use the Cloyes brand. Most of the people that use that brand for timing stuff on the 5.4's end up having components tear up again shortly after fixing it. You'll want chains, crankshaft sprocket, timing guides, tensioners, phasers, and VCT solenoids. For reinstall you'll need an oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, and timing cover gasket set. Should be around $1300 in parts. If you send it somewhere it's around $3,000.

Contrary to what everyone's been saying, I have a body lift and have no issues with it. Yes the gaps are an eye sore but you can either buy gap guards or get those husky liners for the quarter panel wheel wells. the kit comes with bumper relocation brackets, and the nerf bars are bolted to the body so they get lifted with the body.

The install however was not fun. I would never install another body lift again. I wouldn't say it was hard, just tedious.

No matter what you decide on remember it's your truck regardless of what other people think.

Your truck looks pretty darn nice with the new rims and tires as is. If only a couple of inches, say 2, and your just running around town then a body lift would be ok but any more than that and a full suspension lift, CV joints etc would be needed but in a 2wd that would be more expense than I'd think would be worth it.

Where did you get the front oval? I'd like one like that to replace the faded Ford one.

As far as getting to your oil filter, try removing from underneath, way easier !

You could also get the front spindles that allow you to go higher and use lift shackles in the rear
