Subaxle - Broken thread

Subaxle - Broken thread
2004, SCREW 4x4, 5.4
While tightening the sub axle nut after a lower ball joint replacement I managed to over tighten it and shear the threads off the subaxle. Now my local ford dealer tells me they're not available (nothing is available for my truck here as they class it as too old) and I'm going to have to order them from the states (1aauto.com seems to do a good deal).
Is there any issue with running the truck for a couple of weeks with the subaxle removed, obviously staying in 2WD for the period?
Thanks in advance for replies and advice

Well, a couple of issues here.
First, by sub axle I assume you mean the CV axle. I am not sure I have heard it called a sub axle before.
Second, no one knows where you are as it is not in your profile so very difficult to tell you where to get your parts from.
Third, I would never go to the dealer for most parts with a truck that age. Especially brakes, suspension and drive train components.

If you're talking about the cv axle I would buy a new one. Either from local auto parts store or from online
Careful tightening the new one. That nut is only suppose to be torqued to 20 lb-ft.

Sorry, Im in Qatar. not may parts stores carry ford parts and pick-a-part is actually illegal here. If its not the dealer its parts imported from the states.
I should also explain im a Brit, so we call them a sub axle. sorry.
Either way, am i ok to drive with them removed? or am i jut going to damage something else?

Shouldn't be an issue to drive with it removed. It is a bolt in on the inboard side so no issue with leaks. Even if you accidentally engaged 4x4 nothing would happen, literally as the front diff is open so power would be sent to the no axle side

you can run it without cv axle will be fine i actually did the same thing.. any parts store should carry a cv axle for you.. one thing i did know... is the aftermarket cv axles have a different cage/ball bearing type... so it doesn't have as much travel... but who cares.
aftermarket will work fine for you
