Default Stumbling from a dead stop. FPCM?

When the FPDM goes out, is it all or nothing? does it drive erratically before it breaks completely? here's the situation:

So right after a major rain storm on monday and driving through a deep puddle, my truck started down shifting strangely and when i would accelerate from a stop, it bucks a couple times. i thought something was wet, let it sit for a bit and it didn't happen again, so i thought all was well. today on the way into work, it started bucking when accelerating from a dead stop at a normal speed. if i ever so gently grandma the gas pedal, it seems to be fine. down shifting seems to have a weird surge like it's looking for a gear.

does this sound like the transmission or FPDM?

I know my module is dying as it no longer communicates with the truck, but it still runs.

You will know right awaywhen you take it off the frame, lots of corrosion on the back. Really, it's an easy and relatively cheap fix and if you haven't done it yet, even if it's not the cause of your current problem, you should do it before it leaves you stranded. Mine got me in an automatic car wash and left me sitting there like an idiot.
