Default Strut question

The plastic cover around my passenger side strut near the top came loose and slid down to where the top of the strut is showing, is it hurting anything? i wouldnt think so, but if so whats the simplest way to get it back up?

I'm not real familiar with struts and shocks, although i will be here soon cause i need to change them all out, but that cover I think keeps dirt and water and mud out of the shock. not sure if you can just shove it back up and lock it in or if you need a replacement. if things started coming loose on my shocks i would think it is time for replacement. how many miles are on those shocks?

It is just a cover to keep the majority of dirt/mud/grime off of the shiny part of the coilover shock. If it won't push up and stay up, your only other option is to pull the shock and take it apart to get it back on.
