Default Strut mounting

I have a 2005 f150 fx4, I replaced the 4x4 hub actuator on the passenger side, I had to take the coil over out at the bottom to remove the cv axle, I can’t get the strut back in. I’ve got it between the holes but I can’t line it up. I’ve tried jacking up the control arm, does the driver side need to be jacked up? How do I line the holes up?

I big pry bar is what I used. Did you take the outer tie rod end off also? Then you need to massage it back in, the CV boot kinda gets in the way.

Had the same problem with a Monroe coil over shock on the front passenger side. Had to "tap" it with a small sledge and it finally went. And yes, very easy to nick the boot when doing this.

you could disconnect the entire hub and knuckle assembly from the lower control arm. This will give you plenty of slack to align the holes

FYI for the future, you don't need to touch either the strut or the axle to replace the IWE.
