Strange Light Quirk
I have noticed since my truck was new (October 2008) that when it is stopped and idling the light in the odometer area flickers. I really didn't think anything of it until today. I was stopped in a way that my headlights were shining on a wall and I noticed that my headlights were also flickering. This happens when I am stopped with my brakes on at idle. I have not noticed it at any other time. I have a 2008 5.4L SuperCrew. The battery meter in the dash doesn't move - it is always right at the mid-line. Is this anything that I should care about, and if so does it sound like an alternator issue?
Thanks.
Thanks.
It does sound like an alternator issue, I'd have it checked out sooner rather than later, maybe someone with more experience can give you an idea of something you can do to better pinpoint the issue, but it definitely sounds like the alternator from what you've described.
Agree that it sounds alternator related.
Now do you have an aftermarket stereo system that is pulling a lot of power (subs & amp)? Do you have any other aftermarket items that would draw additional power from the alternator? If so, you may just need a larger alternator.
This happens only for a brief second for me, but only when say I'm rolling up/down the windows at a stop and the window gets all the way up/down. Bascially the window is drawing a lot of power trying to push it up/down when it's already at the end of its track. Otherwise, no issues.

No, I am 100% stock. It does have the "audiophile" stock stereo with a bass unit under the back seat, but that was factory installed.
