I have a strange blinker issue in my 2005 F150...

The Left blinker blinks fast (like a burnt out bulb) I have checked the bulb and it is fine.

The right blinker works fine, BUT when I have the cruise on turning on the right blinker cancels the cruise. The left blinker (the one that is blinking fast) does not effect the cruise...

Does this make sense to anyone?

A quick guess.... I would think possibly the clock spring; also known as the switch in the column that allows a continuous connection for things like the air bag, cruise switches and signals.

 

By any chance did you, or someone install an LED bulb in one of the 4 turn signal positions? Did you recently replace a bulb?

If you have the time, move the left side bulbs to the right and see if the fast blinking "moves" to the opposite side. If so, I'd suspect a faulty bulb, even though it may look good. If the symptom does not transfer, then I'd suspect the wiring or a bad bulb socket. Did you install or modify any of the trailer wiring recently? Did you tow a trailer, hooking up to the trailer connection recently?

 

It was parked at an airport for 3 weeks, worked when I parked, did not when I returned... I have not changed anything in the last 2 years, no LEDs, stock trailer harness.

I swapped bulbs, the problem was the same, Left fast blink, right normal blink...

I replaced both bulbs and the problem is gone (at least the fast blink)... I have not driven it yet to see if the cruise works.

Very strange... It was a faulty bulb that worked, but the symptom did not follow the bulb, there has to be something (like a short) somewhere...
