No potholes, damage, fluid leaks (full), etc. But, it just feels like there is a little more effort needed recently. No whining pump, full fluid, all appears normal. Front tires may be a little low on air.(it is cold up here). I did get highsided in deep snow, put was pulled out from the back of the truck.

Maybe I am being oversensitive, but figured I would ask the experts.

 

Check out the universal joint, on the steering shaft. May just need some lube/grease. May have worn out.
I know these trucks are known to have issues in that area.

 

In salt country I bet that seizes up a lot quicker .

 

Sure does. I pack that sucker full of grease every year.

 

And as usual, the experts are on target!

Thorough wash of truck, cleaned winter crap out from underhood, and heavy oiling of both U-joints. Definitely a better feel.

So, if this keeps up, do I ultimately change the intermediate shaft with the U-Joints? Hard job?
