Default starting problem

I have a 2005 f150 with the 5.4 It has developed a starting issue. The truck has 93000 on the odometer and no mods to the engine. Occasionally it will start right up but usually it just turns over like it is not getting any fuel or maybe even no fire to the plugs. The check engine light is not on. Some times it will start and idle rough but when it does that it always dies. It usually does eventually start but there is no pattern to how long it does this. Any ideas?

Fuel filter or fuel pump module. Its located on the frame rail above the spare tire, they get wet inside and corrode.
