Starter Problem (???) in single digit weather...
I have a 2007 F150, 4.2L V6, 5-speed manual transmission, 2WD. Since the truck was new, in single digit weather, it always sounded as if the starter ran a little bit longer than necessary, after the engine had started. Towards the end of this past winter, the starter seemed to stay engaged well after the truck had started. Long enough that on a couple of occasions I turned the truck off to get it to stop.
I understand that in 2007 there was a "feature" on F150's with automatic transmissions (One-Touch Integrated Start), which would crank the engine after the ignition key was released. But I don't believe this applied to the manual transmission truck.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim
