hey guys I posted a thread yesterday about my truck not turning over when the ignition was turned foward and today after some looking around I found the problem!! the small contact wire on the starter where it bolts up (the stud itself) was rusted badly and just lost connection and broke.my question is now, has anyone ever changed the starter on their truck before with the 4.6?? if so would anyone happen to have a pic of the bolts that hold it on?? the starter is easy to get to but not sure how many bolts hold it on. thanks for any input on this.

 

If I had to guess I would say there are two bolts, max of three that actually hold the starter on. It shouldn't be too bad of a job as long as you can access it.

 

Lol....oh yeah it's 3 bolts and the top is impossible to get to so far.i worked for an hour lastnight trying to get to it and had to give up.i'm going to give it another shot after work today.

 

Think u joints for ratchet and many extensions. I've changed a bunch of starters.... Always seems like the top one is the biggest pain.
