I did the 'spray bottle with water' trick. The noise did not go away.

I took off the belt and spun each pulley.
All pulleys were spinning, but one of the idle pulleys didn't spin nearly as long as the other idle pulley.

After closely turning it, it felt like there was dirt in it and the bearing was rubbing.

I replaced the belt and the pulley.

After starting up, the noise is still present but much quieter.

It's very hard to pinpoint the noise with everything in the way, but I'm thinking the noise is coming from the fan (I can hear it through the radiator).

Any opinions?

I've been told NOT to use WD40 or other lubricants on the belt.

Im with you, wd 40 and everything else gets flung around no matter how careful you are unless you do it with the truck off for every pulley in which case your noise is gone by then. this cold weather is brutal, some of my pulleys are newer and Im hearing squeeks again and the good ole alternator whistle. Water has always worked for me but to each his own
