Default Squeak in dash

There is this annoying squeak in the middle of dashboard but it only happens when using the climate controls ( defrost-a/c) what could it be?

I believe my dashboard squeak is the actuator for the blend door. Its a random squeak that only happens on fan speed 1, and only when the temp control is at about 10:00. Move the fan to a higher speed and the squeak stops. Seems like something is loose and just flapping a bit in the breeze. You can't really get to the actuator unless you pull most of the dash apart, but I pulled the radio and some miscellaneous parts, enough to squirt some silicone spray onto the shaft. 2 days later and no squeak, but that hardly seems like enough to cure it. Post up if you find something more substantial.

OT gripe - with acres of space in these trucks, why does Ford (and GM, to be fair) put things like the blower right up against the firewall so even if you finagle the screws out and pull the plug from its socket BEHIND the blower, its a struggle to get the cage out? What should have been a 15-minute job took close to an hour and used up most of my best swear words.
