Bought the truck used about 4 months ago. has 72,000 miles on it. For the last few weeks, it has been sputtering and dying at idle. Sometimes, while driving slowly, it will sputter and lose all power, then surge back and be fine. I've noticed, when it does this, there is usually a very strong gas smell.

 

Have the plugs been done recently? I would start with making sure they are all torqued to 28 ft/lbs.

 

Do a bit of a search on here and you'll find all the answers you need. Pretty sure most people are sick of telling guys about the plug issues with this motor, and FPDM issues, which make up 90% of reported engine issues on here.
