Speakers?
Pretty open question. I went with Focal components in the front and coaxial's in the rear. I had to run new wiring for my amp. It's really personal opinion I guess... I have no regrets adding speakers and an amp for them as I find they don't distort near as easily.
The one thing I'm really happy I did was added the amp for my speakers. The dash on our trucks are quite large that I was also able to hide the 4 channel in there (keeping in mind it can generate heat). I find it much cleaner if I really turn it up, no distortion. Just my thoughts, I will likely do the same thing to my car.
I like alpine or jl. Focals are good as well but can be pricey. Just make sure you put an amp on whatever you get or you are going to be disappointed. Aftermarket speakers require more power than most head units can put out.
If you spend around $100 for a pair you'll be good shape. Get down around $30-50 a pair and not gonna be really any better shape than stock. No matter what, amp them. That'll be the most improvement.
