Default Spark Plugs Changed. Done!

About a week ago I got my spark plugs changed at 107000 miles on 2006 5.4 liter. I took my truck to a local dealer and they gave me a good deal on the work. I replaced the motorcrap plugs with the Champion 7989s. So far the truck runs great. Who has these plugs in their truck and how is it running?

Default Champions

Had mine done a few months ago (no other changes at that time). Working great for me. Even have a small improvement in mpg since the change, something I hadn't expected but much appreciated.

I installed those Champion plugs in my truck back in February of 2010. In February of this year I started having misfires. I took the truck to a local mechanic who determined it was a bad coil and changed it out. Within a few days my CEL came on again and it was showing a misfire again on the same cylinder. I took it to another mechanic who checked out just about everything they could without tearing it apart and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I mentioned to them that I had put the Champion plugs in it about a year ago, it was a little over 10,000 miles at that point in time, and they said I should replace them with the Motorcraft plugs. They said that until I did that they wouldn't be able to do anything else with it because they needed to eliminate the plugs as a potential source of the problem. Well, they wanted too much to replace them so I took it home and replaced the plugs myself with the Motorcrafts and lo and behold the misfire went away. Prior to replacing my plugs the first time I had read many posts about the Champion plugs causing misfires after about a year or so of use but I decided to give them a try anyway because I wanted the one piece plugs. Well, it obviously didn't work out well for me either. So anyway, hopefully you guy's will have better luck with the Champions than I did. If you do start having misfires down the road though, I would definitely look at the plugs as the source of the misfire before you go replacing coils or anything else. Live and learn I always say.

Paintballer,

Did you have any problems removing the champions? Did they break?
