how much did it cost you guys to get your spark plugs done at the ford dealer?? takin my 04 fx4 scab newbody in next week to get it done and the shop quoted me about 500 bucks.. * truck has 140,000 on it and never been changed* ( talked to previous owner and found out he never changed em when i coulda sworn when i bought it he said he did

 

Had mine, 06 5.4 done by the dealership in Dallas last month. 319.95 for the plugs and labor, plus 100.00 to remove the 1 plug they broke.

 

If you search "spark plugs" on this forum, you'll find plenty of posts; some mentioning 2004 to the horror costs they had to pay to remove the plugs from the 2004 to early 2006 5.4 models.

If you get away with 300 to 500 bucks to have a dealer do it, you'll be doing better than most.

i'd clarify that the 500$ is for the plugs including possible broken ones, and the time to remove the possible broken ones.
if thats the case, 500$ from the dealer is a good deal imo

I paid 600$ 6 plugs broke from my private mechanic.

 

WOW 140k on a set of plugs that's awesome. my truck started missing around 90k on the first change (96K) and after the dealer told me that Ford had altered the interval to 50k I had them changed again at 146k. Having gone that long I'm sure you'll have multiple plugs breaking off. Most Dealers charge 3-400 for the change plus parts and 100 per broken plug. I had 3 break on my first and none on the 2nd, not bad for an early '04. A lot of posts recommend some kind of de-carbonizer like Seafoam because carbon build up is what causes them to stick and break off.

Haha, yeah come to think of it.. 140k is insane, i got mine changed at 86k

 

hopefully its just a flat rate haha ill still call and ask to see.. also was thinking about gettin them to change my fuel filter and clean my fuel injection cleaned anything else i should check on? differentil fluid?? anything else? thanks for the help !
