Been doing some research as well and ran across this from Autolite (from some of what I have found it looks as if Autolight is the manufacture of MC plugs for the 3V)):
Of real interest to me was the fact they suggest the use of a torque wrench (Dial or Bar NOT A CLICK TYPE) so as to to exceed 33 ft lbs while trying to remove the plugs. They do not even get in to extraction. As the plug manufacture they would know the max torque spec before breaking. They are also very clear about NOT USING standard deep set sockets. USE ONLY proper SPARK PLUG SOCKET.
Direct to PDF link (dated 9/30/2010): http://autolite.com/sites/default/a/uploads/en/autolite_ht_bulletin_0.pdf (PS link has good pictures of when the problem exists)

OP didn't realize you have the redesigned heads since it's a Feb 08. SP 509 will work just fine and you don't have to worry about the breaking issue as long as you have brown COP boots. If the COP boots are cracked or stiff you should change them. If not, just put some di electric grease in them like normal.
