Spark plug question
Hi all,
I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I cannot find the information I need. I have an '07 F-150 4.6, and everywhere I've read says that it has the extended electrode spark plug that has all of the breaking issues. Here's the thing. The plugs are NOT 9/16" drive, they are 5/8" drive. I went online to order new plugs, every online store I look at says I need Motorcraft part # SP-493, which does not have the extended electrode. My VIN is 1FTRX02W97KC99765 if that helps.

Your 4.6 does not have or use the SP-507 breaking plug.. only installed in the 5.4L 3V. I just installed a fresh set of SP493’s and a fresh set of boots and springs in a 4.6L.easy job ... took 30 mins a side taking my time. Make sure you use a torque wrench ....
The 4.6 is a standard plug change. No risk of breaking. HOWEVER, they are known for spitting plugs out if not torqued properly. I would go another 2-5 ft lbs over spec to make sure they're seated well. I cant remember the spec off the top of my head.
