Default Spark Plug Gap

Looking for a somewhat definitive answer on the subject of gapping platinum spark plugs, more specifically, the SP509 for my 08 5.4L. It was my understanding that they come pre-gapped. However, I've searched and found numerous threads in which people adjust the gap. I thought that monkeying with the gap would damage the platinum tip. What's the real story?
Also, 9-15 lb/ft torque, and no anti-seize....correct?

They should be pre-gapped but it is worth checking to be certain.

Sorry I don't remember the torque off hand.

Anti-seize is now recommended on the sleeve to help reduce problems later during removal.

SP-509's don't require anti seize... these are one piece plugs unlike the 507/515's and double check the gap should be .052-.054.. my set was good to go from the packages. I torqued my to 180 inch pounds which is around 15 foot pounds. Did you replace springs and boots ?

While I haven't performed the plug change yet, I did purchase the AC Delco boots/springs you recommended in another post. Very inexpensive option, and the quality looks very good. I'm doing all the major maintenance (plugs, coolant flush, rear gear oil change, tranny flush, etc.) when my wife is on spring break. That way, if I pooch something, I have spare wheels to roll around on until the truck is back up.

Good man !! use dielectric grease on the inside of each end of the boots for a water tight seal...I also use some on the outside of all the COP and injector plugs before re-connected to ensure a water tight seal. Those A/C delco boots and springs were the exact same as OEM...
