Stick with a MC plug. I have also read that the Brisk plugs are good but might want to research that a little more.

I'm not saying they are pushovers, just that they seem to go out more often than not if you have a good misfire.

Ok, my 2005 5.4 is approaching 100k, i have just over 92k right now and was thinking about chaning the plugs. But after reading all these problems with plugs breaking at 40k, 50k, and 60k... im pretty much screwed at 92k. These are spark plugs for crying out loud.. and I hear that dealers are charging $500-$1,000 to change 8 spark plugs! this is crazyness. What should I do?

Brisk and Champion

The Brisk Racing plug only lasts like 10k or so.

The Champion's rep is hit or miss depending on who you ask.

IIRC, both are the same design but the lower joint is welded rather than crimped.

Leave them till you start having problems with them. If they are still working, it isn't worth the hassle.

In reading comments like this, it provokes me to buy the item; this way I can agree or disagree with these comments.

I have a set of the Bosh triple platnium in my 2005. It's a 4.2 V6 and not the 5.4 (don't even know if Bosh makes a set for the 5.4). I always had a slight stumble when idling (I bought the truck 2 years ago with 75K). Changed the plugs when I bought it using a set of plain old champions. I should note that changing plugs in a 4.2 is a cakewalk, as there are no issues of breakage like some of the early 5.4's. Takes about 45 minutes. Idle still had a stumble, so I figured perhaps the injectors, or the plug wires may be due for a change. Changed wires, ran several tankfulls of Shell gas and even several bottles (over time) of injector cleaner in the gas tak; still a slight rough stumble during idle. Installed the Bosh plugs. Idle is smooth. With over 3000 miles on these Bosh plugs, no issues, and still a smooth idle.

Are they worth the 4 to 5 bucks apiece? Perhaps not, but they cured my rough idle, and I don't plan to replace them.

My past experience with Bosh plugs has been positive. Never had any issues myself.

Yeah, it's a double platinum (OE equivalent). P/N should be 7989
