Default Someone Help me what is this noise?! its not injectors

I've been reading and reading and have found no answers or reply's, my friends brand new E-250 doesn't make this noise Ford says its normal but the trucks brand new to me and my gut just doesn't believe it.

108,000km
2007 5.4 3v
light knocking/rattling noise (sounds bottom end?)
800and up RPM when WARM
truck has been serviced by ford every 4500-5000km 5w20
does it when its in neutral, park, and in drive when under light loads or when just reving the motor.

just bought the dang thing and im having a hard time enjoying it, its got the stock exhaust so you can really hear it! here's the video, best hear between 8-13 seconds in.

Thanks!

Could it be exhaust manifolds? Just a guess mine has the same sound so I'd like to know what anyone has to say.

sounds like beginnings of cam phaser going out. Could also be VCTs though, easy way to check them is just unplug the electrical connector to the driver and passenger VCT located at the front of each valve cover. If noise is gone, there is your problem. They are $50ish each to replace and you can re-use the seal if you are careful.

If its not the VCTs, change your oil to full syn 5w30 and see if that helps. My Cam phasers are starting to be on the outs, and changing to 5w30 got rid of the tick, but not the diesel sound to the motor.

That is real close to the sound mine was making. Check your plugs. Mine had 6 loose plugs when I bought it from the dealership. I removed them, cleaned the threads and retorqued them and everything went away.
Pull your COP and smell the boot. If it smells strongly of fuel, compression is working past the plug.

Sounds very similar to mine, except mine sounds more like chains rattling. I'm thinking it may need new cam phasers and timing chains.

Mine does that as well. Around 750 rpm appairantly that's normal to and extent
Its something to do with the hydrolic chain tentioners I've hear a lot of people with the noise I have in my truck. I wouldent think it would be the phasers. Only thing I have yet to try is to pull the vct solenoid when its warm and rev it up to see if it clatters

Like mentioned above, check your VCT solenoids by unplugging them one at a time and seeing if the sound goes away.
