well I didn't want it on the damn dash, lol.

backing up is fine with the box. I drove an Express cargo van for a year, I don't need a rear view!

A big issue with the GPS sitting in the windshield is.

It makes a good target for thieves. They look for the GPS or the little round marks on the windshield left by the suction cup.

They break in the car and take the GPS unit and a door opener. Most people have it set to take them right to the front door of home so this makes it easy for them to find you and get in.

I keep mine in the center console. when I need it I turn it on and lay it on the dash until it gets locked on signal. I then sit it in a cup holder on the console. It is easy to see and hear and is out of the way. when I stop I just shove it back in the console to be out of sight.

You're right, I'll probably remove my home address from it.

My last one was stolen out of my Honda, real pain in the ***.

i've been thinking about mounting mine up in the top corner by the door pillar. do you have any trouble with the suction cup losing suction. mine will stay up for about a week then i'll come out one day and its dangling from power cord. i guesse it might be cause i live in texas where its 150 degrees everyday.

Clean the surface with Windex...

A week or two for a suction cup is pretty good, just stick it back up there when it falls hahaha.

anything that can be seen from the outside of your truck could be a target.

Today I got very lucky. I am on vacation and today I took my son fishing at a public park right on the bay. there was about 8 other cars in the parking lot all nice cars. The one beside my truck had the window smashed in and the woman's pocketbook stolen, My truck was not touched. The woman's husband and I where talking he said he put the pocketbook under the seat but he thinks the strap was showing. they also had a lot of shopping bags in the back but nothing they know of was taken.

The strange thing is in the back of my truck I had 3 fold up chairs and a back pack. and the cap was unlocked so if they wanted that stuff they could have taken it and no one would have known.
