Default snow chains/cables...

well snowmageddon 2014 has crippled Atlanta. Id like to get a set of snow chains to put on in case of emergency in a situation like this. I looked some up but everything I was finding fit anything from a 15-18" wheel. Im about to have some 33x12.50x20 on my truck. Anyone know of any that will fit that? Does the size of the wheel really matter as long as itll fit around the tire?

My understanding has always been that chains help in snow, like going through Vail Pass. In ice, they may help you get traction but they won't help much on the stopping. In short, in conditions like Atlanta the only real impact would be studded tires, which would wear down real quick in the 99.9% of other winter days where there is no ice.

Also note that to put chains on your lay them down and drive over them, then fasten them. So, if you can't get traction, kind of hard to put them on. Also, from experience (putting them on firetrucks) it's not a fun time, in cold weather it's a lot of work with numb hands, and done improperly it can damage the vehicle.

I wouldnt mess with it. yall don't get enough snow down there IMO to warrant the cost/hassle of chains.. just throw some extra weight in the bed and be careful.

You call that snow? jk... I wouldn't waste the $ as other have posted. Just park the truck until you can drive or throw some weight in the back. I can't see the chains paying off $ wise for the once in 5 or 6 years snow you get.

The only thing that would have helped you out in Atlanta would have been a 4 wheeler in the bed or a camper on the hitch.
