Default Slight corrosion and rust

I was under the rear of the bed this weekend looking for a knocking sound and noticed some very very slight corrosion on the underside painted surface of the bed and hitch reciever... nothing serious yet, but wanted to see if there was anything to be done about it in terms of preventative maintenence.... I live in Western Washington state, where they don't really salt the road, and I only have 39K on the truck... Ideas? Things that have worked for folks?

Thanks

Jason

in aviation maintance we are constantly fighting corrosion. the only way to fight it is to propperly strip the corrosion from the area, and then a little of the metal after that to ensure that you have removed the whole area, a wire brush is a good tool for this, or a flapwheel, brissle brush driven by a drill...ect if your doing a good amount. i have a 05 from boston and i have a good amount developing on frame welds. i recommend, as i am going to do this coming weekend, is getting the rust busted off, then taking rustoleum black paint and hitting the spots you stripped. my best course of action i can recommend. or you can under coat it, the priority is to eliminate the corrosion before treating and sealing the area.
