Default Sky not jacker

Our skyjacker lift kit failed us yesterday. My wife was driving it to work and went over a little bump in the road. Next thing she knows the truck is all over the place and not steering well. I got the call and went to see what was wrong. Something was not right, the truck was sitting crooked. Started looking and the passenger side shock had sheared in half! Broke totally through! Had it towed to the lift shop and they are going to fix it. Has anybody seen a shock break like that?

Fist thing the lift dude said was, how high did you jump it? LOL. Well its never been off roading, so zero.

Just wondering how rare this is?

durring any production run, you will get a few lemmons, something is bound to go wrong with that many in production, it sounds like you just got a bad one, or it was installed wrong.

at least your wife is okay.

I'm really not surprised to hear this b/c so many ppl have commented on how poor the skyjacker shocks are, including leaks and horrible ride.

I have seen posts about the leaks, but shearing off? The ride is awesome, probably better than factory. They are standing behind it at no cost to us. But its just scary.

I have had Skyjackers on my truck for the past seven years with no problems - been off-road many times. Going to install new set of Skyjackers as soon as they arrive from 4wheel parts - you might of gotten one that got past inspections undetected... get it fixed and good luck!

Got it replaced and realigned free. HOPE this fixes the problem. The coil over spring was riding on the CV joint! Glad it didn't ruin it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Freak. Scary. The install was done right. We looked into it...Good thought though.
