Default Skull Caps

I am sure this has been discussed before but couldnt find anything on it. Is there a how to on how to remove the skull caps on the tow mirrors? Wanting to have mine PTM but dont want to break another mirror this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know if someone did a write up on it but when I did mine it sure would have been nice. I just turned the glass all the way to one side so I could see behind it. There are tabs holding the glass on. Get a long flat head screw driver and stick in in there and slowly twist it to "pop" the glass from the tab. It scared the hell out of me. Once you do that, unscrew the torx screws that you now have access to. This will get the cap loose enough to get back behind it with that same screw driver. There are a couple more tabs you will need to push down on to release it. You will see what I'm talking about when you get that far.

I tried that method on my last set of mirrors and ended up breaking the tabs and then ordered my tow mirrors. I will try to look at it more closely though. Thanks.

Good luck! Maybe I just got lucky but it worked for me. Just don't be too aggressive.

Glad to hear it! It's not fun by any means. Be careful putting the glass back on as well. Requires a decent amount of pressure.

And be sure to apply full even pressure on the entire suface of the mirror or risk breaking it. The easiest way it to use a book or something rigid about the same size as the mirror.
