Could e brake be rubbing? Maybe you don't typically use it but set it when you installed the level and now its stuck? That'd be the only way that much loss would make sense to me.

Changing your fuel filter is an excellent idea, might save you from buying a fuel pump some time in the future, but will not impact your fuel economy. A leveling kit/over size tires will.

No oversized tires...yet. That's why I'm skeptical of putting them on, already at 11-13. Who knows what the hell it'll go to then.

Also. How hard is it to change the filter on these trucks. I've done it before but it was on a 02 Chevy 1500. Still located along the frame?

Winter gas, maybe? I live in FL so don't know much about it, but I've seen several posts here that mention worse gas mileage in the winter.

Also, you are hand calculating your mileage, right? Not relying on the dash or a programmer/scanner?

Not knowing anything about the fuel filter, but having the disconnect tool it took me about a half hour to change mine yesterday. It's located along the frame under the driver's door.

Actually yes mythbusters did a show about the tail gate up or down vs mileage it has to do with the way the wind comes over the cab and swirls in the bed. With it up or no tonneau it actually kind of propels it. So with a tonneau its worse...
