Default Simple trans qustion

Hello, I have a 2004 F150 4x4, 4.6. I changed trans oil and filter. Now when I check it cold it is on the "over fill" on the dipstick. When I drive it around and get it warmed it checks "add" on the dipstick. As soon as it cools off it checks hi. Any ideas?
Thanks.

That sounds like maybe you have a converter draining back into the pan. Possible a sticking check valve. Did it ever do it before you changed the fluid ? or did you ever check it enough to know? how many miles on it ?

You always check trans fluid with the engine running and at operating temperature. If you're checking it with the engine off it's not even going to read close to right. It should be slightly low with the engine cold and running and right at the line with the engine warm and running, some dipsticks have a line for both cold and hot, I'm not sure about yours, but either way the engine must be running when you check it.
