Default Shrills in the Cold!

My 04, small 8 gives out a short shrill sounding noise when I accelerate in the cold weather (winter only, never in the summer), as soon as I let off the accelerator it stops but comes back and eventually stops during the drive.
Anyone else have this and has isolated and or fixed it.
Any ideas what causes this.
I've just turned over 195,000 klicks (kilometers) I live in Toronto Ontario, Canada.

Thanks,
Aca Markovic

My 04 sounds like it is doing the same thing, I've only got 51,000 miles on mine and have only owned it for a couple months.

Mine does it too. I've been wondering about it. I usually just turn up my radio and ignore it. But, I can get mine to go constant when completely cold and turning the fan to 4. Not sure what it could be though.

I'm referring to the electric fan motor in the cab. Not the 4.6, itself.

Change your alternator. Sounds odd, I know, but it cured my new to me 2004 (now with 114,000 miles, bought it with 106,000) that made that shrill whistling type sound in the cold. Unfortunately, its cold more than a little bit in Minnesota. Also had a truck at work that was doing the same thing. They found it by accident when they changed the alternator out when it failed and the noise went away.
