Default should i upgrade

me and my fiance have an 8 month old son.. just got her a 2010 escape and ive been thinking if maybe i should get a bigger truck... my trucks an 04 fx4 supercab.. and if i upgraded id be gettin an 04-11 f150 supercrew or possibly a 07+ z71 crew cab.. my truck has 140,000 miles on it right now so if im going to trade up id like to do it before 150,000 but im having trouble making a decision.. transmissions been rebuilt from previous owner and i thought it would be nice to have a 4 door ( full 4 door ) with a kid and more kids in the future... whats your take on it? love my truck but wish it was full 4 doors..

Nothing is like a 4 door truck man. With my neice, it makes A HUGE differnce being able to open the back doors and all the extra room back there for all of her "to go needs". In addition, if you plan on having more kids, then it's really nice on long road trips to have more room back there. Can't hurt to upgrade. But if you're planning on using the Escape most of the time for the child transport vehicle, then no REAL need to upgrade. Just MHO. But it would be nice to have it when you DO need it. Best of luck with the kiddo!

I will second that it sure is nice especially for your passengers no matter who they are. The only thing you give up is (in most cases) the bed length. There are supercrews with longer beds out there but they are not so common. Anyways, congrats and goodluck withe the kid

Young kid or kids and 4 door full sized truck is heaven. I am talking from personal experience. I had a 2004 Tacoma 4 door that I loved dearly. But my wife and I had our baby and we were finding it a bit small inside to fit all of our things whenever we went on trips. Even with a tonneau cover in the back we still didn't have much room for gear. You have to pack a lot of stuff for babies; stroller, pack n play, etc. But with this Super Crew F150 life is good!

I have an 05 Supercab with a 7 year old and a 2 year old. Also the wife watches a couple of kids during the week. There is plenty of room for them and toys/blankets/bags/etc. The only issue at all is when going to a store and having an idiot park too close to you. However that is even an issue when trying to get them into a car. Until my kids are in their late teens we shouldn't have a problem with them in the back seat. IMHO I'd hold off on upgrading until it will be for something you really want or a lot newer.

I will 3rd this. I was looking into a Supercab when I had my son but I am glad I opted for the Supercrew. SO much more room.
