Default should i replace my motor or mod it?

i have an 05 f150 xlt with the 4.6l, i am currently making it a clone s331. i am wondering if i should replace the motor with the 5.4 and mod it, or if there are any good mods to get me alot more power out of my 4.6l. i currently just have a roush cat back dual. im not over concerned on price, im concerned on difficulty. this can be a long term project. i just need some ideas. thanks in advance

If money is of no concern, you have a world of options and it boils down to your imagination. Most will tell you to mod a 5.4, but it would be cool to see someone build up a 4.6; maybe a stroker kit, then add Trick Flow heads and comp cams. Next add a procharger. Good luck

If cost is not an option dont do either, drop a diesel into it with a turbo, with tranny and rear changes youd be looking at 30k most likely. Just to do a 5.4 swap and mod it you would be up towards 15 for everything once you get the right filters, computer, wiring, ect, ect. Cheapest thing to do is prob. take your 4.6 and supercharge it and upgrade the tranny. Probably would stay under 8-10k then

Touche...yes, cummins diesel would be best. I did read about a guy who did the swap but $30K is so much, I would just buy a new truck. I didn't know a 5.4 swap would be $15K? From what I've read, those that did it, $4-$7K.

Yeah if you read up on the member blownford...he has 500+hp on his 5.4L. Not sure on the exact price and i dont know if he'd say, but it is more than likely 15k+ after all is said and done. I think he got a bunch of good deals on parts/services too.

I think a 6.2L with a supercharger, cams, and full headers/exhaust would be sweet too. However, the diesel swap would blow someones mind if they rolled up next to you. All of a sudden just blow black smoke everywhere and be gone...haha. Thatd confuse the hell out of them.

any idea where i can get any of these? i think that modding my 4.6l would be better because i haven't seen one done up. most people do the 5.4 swap

Stroke the 4.6 to 5.0, add a pair of smaller turbos so they spool quickly. A set of cams and a proper tune will help modify the power curve. 4.10 gears or better depending on your tire size...you'll be set.
