Default Should I buy??

Hey guys, new member here. I have been looking to get rid of my explorer and get a 2004-2008 F-150. I found a 2007 FX4 in Texas (fly and buy, I'm from Virginia) that I really like for under $9,000. Body looks to be in perfect shape, but the mileage is high (198,000 miles). My gear head buddy says don't worry about the mileage coming from Texas, it's all flat out there, so no real strain on the truck.

Any opinions on the mileage issue? Anything in particular that I need to watch out for?

Thanks for your help!!

Check and see the maintenance records for it. That will tell the whole story. Honestly, for the mileage, I would price him down a bit...Also, the area means nothing. That truck could have been a hotshot truck or a toy hauler. He clearly has never been to central Texas Hill Country lol

Got any pics of the truck? Where about is it located? Asking because that mileage fits with a truck I traded in last year. Haha. The 5.4 is a solid motor if maintained properly. The biggest issue is the cam phasers failing, so check if they have been replaced and what they were replaced with. Aside from that the only issues were spark plugs breaking in the heads, which is easily remedied with the Lisle tool.

Don't be scared by mileage. It's an 07, just check the maintenance history on it. Drive it if possible, make note of any quirks and noises. 210k on my 07, everything internal is original.

Definitely not mine. Haha. She looks mostly stock, which is definitely a plus. Something modded out with large tires would scare me away with that much mileage. These trucks are stout. Only time mine left me stranded was when I wasn't paying attention and ran over spikes at an apartment complex. It even kept driving after I lost 3rd and 4th gear on the highway. Do you know anyone in the area that can look at it before you fly down and look at it? Why come all the way down for a 10 year old truck?

No particular reason other than my gear head buddy loves to buy cars down there because of the lack of rust (no road salt). They actually appear to be cheaper down there too and I am not looking to break the bank. I just drive back and forth to work and we use my wife's SUV for our family trips.

Ah gotcha. Just curious. Figured price had something to do with it. Back in 2012 or 2013 my dad had a guy fly down from Virginia, if I remember correctly, to buy his 2011 F-150.
