Shifter assembly
Solved
I have a 2004 F150 Lariat with 220,000 miles. I have owned it since it was new. I have maintained it and have only had to replace the alternator. I am having a problem when shifting into reverse. I have a console shifter. From park to reverse i hear a audible click in the shifter assembly it goes right into gear like normal. When in drive and trying to go to reverse there's no click and it may take 10 to 15 se ones for it to go into reverse. I checked the shift cable and it was loose at the transmission and replaced the plastic grommet. That didn't change anything. I also notice that the shifter assembly seems tighter and squeaks while changing gears. Has this happened to anyone? Is it the shifter assembly? Is it the shift cable? Or the transmission? Thanks in advance.
