Default shake?

this is my first truck, but is it normal to be able to feel the motor shaking at idle...from my car experiance it feels less then solid motor mounts that we have had on the track cars but worse then stock...im thinking just a bad rear motor mount but i could just be thinking something is wrong when the truck is just like that...

Sometimes I notice a slight shake when I waiting to go into work and I'm just sitting there with the a/c on. Nothing major though, no more than my 99 Ranger had.

I agree that my 5.4 should not be shaking while in idle...... what's up with that????? It's a V8, for crying out loud! It shouldn't be shaking!

May try to put a scanner on it to see if any cylinders are showing as 'weak'.

Even my older vintage has a test mode where the injectors are cut off in sequence one-by-one - the cylinder(s) with the least RPM drop are flagged as 'weak'.

Could be a plug or injector issue?

Yes, V8's are recognized for their smoothness - with a cylinder firing every 90degrees of crank rotation, so if it's noticeably shaking - probably something is not right.

ugh i hate this truck...no i dont but its starting to get on my nerves, in about 20 hours before my road trip to san diego from boston and i need a new brake pad on my front left wheel....it will last the 3000, the clip is just being stupid...but its little things on the truck that i never had with my dsm's and mustang

anyways as far as the shaking, i think it may even have a issue with the driveshaft or another rotational piece...im going to crawl under it and check to make sure nothing is rubbing or the tranny mounts arent in bad shape...its realy agrivating me, not the shake but knowing its there

I have a 2004 5.4 and it's been idling rough from day one, had Miami Metro FORD check it out during the first service and they said (in VERY poor ENGLISH) everything looked good, so I don't notice it much anymore.
Otherwise, this has been a good truck, it's done everything I've asked of it.
