serious alarm issues
i just recently bought a 2006 ext cab 2x4 4.6L, after i get home from the guy i bought it from i use the keyless entry remote to lock the doors, pressing it twice to hear the cherp and arm the security system. after about 15 mins the alarm starts going CRAZY!!! so i unlock the truck via remote and hit the lock button two more times, hear the cherp....15 mins later the alarm goes crazy....
however when i only press the lock button once it locks the doors and about every hour i get a little chirp
anyone know of a solution to this problem???

Kind of familiar with your issue. My trucks stock alarm started doing the same thing for a while. Tried to reprogram it via the manual (worthless POS), but no luck. It wouldn't arm anymore until I unlocked the doors and put the key in the ignition. Then it'd go crazy or wouldn't let me start the truck until I hit the override button.
Since my truck is still under warranty, I plan on taking it in during Sept. to fix this and change the oil/rotate tires. I have since put the alarm in valet mode for the time being.
EDIT: I too have a 2006, but Screw XLT 5.4L 4x4.

Valet mod disarms the alarm completely. Like if you were going to have it valet parked and you didn't want the valet to have to deal with the alarm. It's easy to setup. Also, if you can find the model # info on the alarm system you have, there's an 800# you can call to get a users manual on how to setup the alarm. My alarm kept telling me my ITS sensors were being tripped, when the truck was sitting in the garage. I just couldn't locate my model #, and being under warranty, I'll let Ford handle the work.
Yes. It'll unlock/lock the doors, just won't arm the system. Do you have your owners manual? there should be a little booklet in there talking about how to set the Valet mode.
