Self starter
I was charging a dead battery on my 2004 Ford F-150 when I experienced a weird occurrence. I opened the drivers side door, reached in and turned the key. The battery was still not charged enough to start the truck so it made a bunch of clicking and dinging noises. I turned the key off, took the key out and laid in cup holder and shut the door. I was walking around the truck to look at the charger when the truck tried to start!! I had this happen TWICE! What if I had reached in to check belt tension or something like that! DAMN! How did that happen?
Thanks

if you are sure there is no remote starter (perhaps a unit that a prior owner left in truck that you aren't aware of), then there has likely been someone at some time that has messed with the wiring. Either way, electrical gremlins can be very frustrating and difficult to track down.
I'd start by having someone do an inspection of wiring under dash and around engine compartment, looking for obvious issues with wiring (mods, aftermarket items, chewed wires, etc).

I have a 1998 Lincoln Town Car (no remote starter) that has actually started and continued to run by it self, twice in the 10 years that I have owned it. One the times it was in a motel parking lot in Dayton Ohio so maybe somebody was trying to steal it, IDK. No obvious signs of tampering, weird.
