so the red security light on my dash is rapidly flashing and not allowing my truck to start. it just randomly did it today and stranded me at the VA today. I've got my dash tore apart cause was told it might be a short but every thing looks fine

 

Do you have spare key? If so try that first, it could be as simple as the transponder chip in the key somehow got damaged or went bad.

 

no spare key. was only given 1 key when I bought the truck

I was only given one key too. Had another one made yesterday as i lost it the day before. Found it under the couch lol. I have a bunch of kids and my wife loves losing keys so i know better. Plus my nearest Ford dealer is about 40 min. away.

 

I haven't been here for a bit . Do you have a remote starter that you know of (or maybe don't)?


This is the PATS security light... it's not accepting your key. Now I have seen this where people install remote starters and wire the bypass module on permanently (a big no-no) and the computer loses the programming for the bypass. The bypass signal becomes stronger that the key cannot be read and doesn't allow start.


It's either that or, your key is bad, the PATS antenna is bad, etc..

 

no remote starter. ford dealer said my truck ecu all of a sudden thought it was an expedition witch makes no sense to me
