Default SCT xcal 3 question

Hey guys, I have an SCT xcal 3 with custom tunes for my 2007. Could I use it to read a trouble code on my wifes 2008 Ford Edge? Just trying to save time and money to not take it somewhere if I didn't need to. Thanks!

I believe so but i have had some handheld tuners that wouldnt read bc it wasing in the tuner for vehicle specific. Plug it in and see. It wont hurt anything.

Ok I tried looking up the code when I got home and it said there was no codes. This seems feasible because all of the lights did shut off on my way home so there is no active lights on at the moment. Would my tuner only read active codes? Is it not reading them because the lights shut off? Is there any way that my tuner can look up history codes? Thanks
