Default Running rough ? Engine light flashing

I have a 2004 5.4 was driving yesterday doing 65 and started up a hill and started running rough. Let of gas pedal and was fine try to accelerate and felt like had an transmission problem or tire out of balance. Engine light was flashing during the event but would go off after it settled down. Try to accelerate again would do it again. Owners manual says flashing light means engine misfiring. Any idea the problem ? I was thinking cam sensor ? Safe to drive 30-40 miles ? Any input appreciated.

If there's an autozone or advance auto nearby spot in and ge tthe codes read. Without knowing what the codes are I doubt anyone's going to be comfortable telling you it's okay to drive.

I don't think so. Speaking from experience with the same issue it sounds like you have a coil pack going out. Next time it does it if you stay in the gas through the flashing it should make the light stay on and you will be able to have it read. Just did this with mine Friday night.

Good luck with it.
